1sts Win at Home Against Bablake CC

1st XI lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a slightly damp wicket. Bablake got stuck in straight away bowling tight and getting early breakthroughs. Walmley found it hard to score before Jon Newis (33) and Sarmad Bhatti (27) came to the crease, a good little partnership from Dinuk De Silva (16) Mo Sheikh (9) at the end took Walmley up to 150.

A below par score, but Walmley put the pressure straight on Bablake with Jon Newis striking early on. A fantastic spell from Jamie Hall only conceding 2 runs in his 11 overs and taking 2 wickets really putting the teams on Bablake. Bablake looking to block out for the draw couldn’t handle the pace of Jordan Hoffman chipping in with an important wicket. It was left to Dinuk De Silva to wrap up the game dismissing the number 11 and ending with 3 wickets. Walmley are at home again next week to another unbeaten side Stratford.
