Match Date: Saturday 1st June
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 13 East
Location: Xcel Centre, Coventry
Report: Luke Marshall, captain
RMCC chose to bat on, if I was being kind, a less than pristine wicket. Small boundaries meant they accumulated 261-9. We didn’t field particularly well. Dropped too many chances and gave away too many extras. Wickets were shared around the bowlers; Masud Ahmed (1), Charlie Yeates (2), Andi Walters (3-47 off 10) and Saj Hussain (2-15 off 5).
Our reply got off to a strong start with Atif Khan (35) and Siddikur Rahman (43) finding the boundary regularly and putting on an 80-odd partnership. The run rate dropped off as regular wickets fell and aside from big, albeit brief, hitting from Masud Ahmed (23), chasing down their score looked out of reach. We saw out our 45 overs with a wicket to spare and fell 3 runs short of 75% of their total for the extra points. A special shout out to Tony Shackleford for stepping in at the last minute and, after not picking up a bat in 2 years, easily saw out the final 2 overs with some textbook defence along with Andi Walters to ensure we came away with a draw.
