Captain’s Six Wicket Haul Seals Victory for 5ths West

Coleshill 2nds vs 5ths West
Match Date: 13th July 2019
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 13 West
Location: Coleshill
Report: Luke Marshall, Captain

After the painful loss in the reverse fixture last week, we travelled the relatively short distance to Coleshill to try and make amends. Upon losing the toss we were put into bat and couldn’t have started much worse as we very soon found ourselves 24-5 as the top order failed to fire. On what was clearly a very good wicket, it wasn’t good enough. Zain Ali (39) helped to steady the innings and more importantly stop the flow of wickets before Ryan Delport (47) and Hamzah Swaleh (36 not out) got us up to a decent score. Everyone from 6-11 contributed and showed the rest of us how to bat! Posting 206 off our 45 was a great effort after the poor start.

Their response soon faltered after early wickets each from Zain Ali and Sam Wood kept them in check and it was soon apparent chasing down our score wasn’t going to happen. Reiss Chagar took another before Luke Marshall (6-35) took over and, with Hamzah Swaleh grabbing the other wicket, sealed a massive 116 run win and 24 points. The pleasing thing was we showed we were more than good enough to beat this team and that last week was a bit of a bad day. Great win boys!
