With the weather playing up again, skipper Jamie won the toss and elected to bat first. Reduced to a 35 over game, Dinuk de Silva (22) and Kaash Patel (27) allowed the team to get off to a good start as we were almost scoring 6 an over in the first ten overs. However, wickets started to fall and skipper Jamie Hall (31) again took responsibility holding his wicket in order to get us back into the game. Walmley finished on 178.
With their main man gone early as David Clough took his wicket, the boys looked comfortable. Wickets also came frequently; from Ryan Delport (1-38) and Callum Herron (2-26). Walmley were looking to wrap this game up with Coventry and NW requiring around 6 an over after drinks to win the game. With chances not being taken and allowing singles to be scored every ball, the game was almost looking to be a last over decider. However, that was the cost for our win as Coventry and NW managed to win the game with one over to spare. Next week looks to be a must win game for the boys as they go up against their title challengers Harborne away.
