Game Summary

First Half

The game gets off to a fast start and Colron’s defence were caught napping in the first five minutes, fortunately the Lakeside Swans attackers couldn’t find the target. Colron’s first counterattack is illegally stopped as Harry is brought down in the Lakeside penalty area by the goalkeeper, Benzie steps up and calmly slots the ball into the net. The game is becoming a midfield battle both teams cancelling each other out. The deadlock is broken when Lakeside score with three minutes of the first half. Remaining undeterred Colron continue to press and with virtually the last kick of the half Harry’s shot catches the Swans’ goalkeeper off guard and the ball bobbles into the net. The whistle blows for half time, honours even, 2-2.

Second Half

With the match nicely balanced, Colron start the second half on the attack creating a few half chances, against the run of play Lakeside get a penalty eleven minutes into the second half for an accidental hand ball. The penalty is well struck giving Ethan no chance, Lakeside Swans take the lead once again. It isn’t long before Colron are back on even terms, in fact seven minutes when a backward pass is help on its way by Colron’s newest recruit Beau. (Well done Beau! Welcome to the team.) The game is evenly balanced, again against the run of play the Swans score with sixteen minutes remaining. Colron now trailing by one goal start to take risks leaving themselves at risk from the counterattack, Lakeside Swans take advantage scoring twice in the last fifteen minutes of the match. The games ends 3 – 6 to the Swans, a match that was closer than the final result suggested.

Congratulations to Aiden (parents’ player) and Harry (man of the match) well played boys!
