Game Summary

With another home game due to be held at Walmley Cricket Club, a Pitch inspection took place at 7.45am (the clocks going back helped) and after ten minutes of the gaffer walking up and down the pitch he decided it was best to go with the old faithful at Streetly Community Centre.

Today was going to be a tough game, Kings Heath have been playing well and won both their cup games last weekend. Normality resumed with 20 minutes each way, the whistle went and off we went.

First Half

Colron came out the blocks quickly as normal and were pushing forward quickly and getting behind the Kings Heath defence. There was some great passing going on in midfield between Henry and Charlie and they were getting the ball through to Zaine upfront who made some great runs and had some great shots that were saved well by the Kings Heath keeper.

Kings Heath got through our midfield but Reuben was there to stop them getting through and made some great tackles playing in defence. Reuben passed the ball through to midfield where Henry picked it up and made a run and passed it out wide to Charlie, Charlie found himself in space out wide, dribbled it in, looked up and took a shot that went over the defenders and goalkeepers head into the far top corner, what a goal!

Kings Heath restarted the game and were making some great passes and pushing forward but Zak ran out from goal, made himself big to stop the KH forward taking a shot.

Substitute was made, Zaine off with Henry pushing upfront and Tommy on, Tommy made some great runs through the middle causing the KH defence some trouble. Ruben stepped out of defence and shot, it was heading wide but Charlie stuck a leg out and got a shin to the ball to divert it into the back of the net, even if it was in slow motion.

Another substitution with Henry off to catch his breath as he hadn’t stopped running during the first half and Parker was on.

Some lovely football was being played by all and we had a few chances we just couldn’t put away.

Second Half

Few more managerial changes had been made, Charlie and Tommy make way for Zaine and Mason who slot nicely into midfield, Zak and Joe swapped places in goal.

With Colron going up hill now, KH started quick and had a few shots on goal that Joe dealt with easily. Colron made some great quick runs through but just couldn’t take their chances.

Another change was made, with Reuben off, Zaine dropping into defence, Parker into the middle and Millie on upfront. Parker and Mason worked well together in midfield, making some great passes and tackling well when KH got the ball.

Millie was getting the ball upfront and holding it up well. KH got the ball and made a quick run through and got a goal back.

It was now game on!

Henry was back on and making some great runs down the wing, and putting the ball through to Millie who was forcing their defender back and to kick the ball out for throw ins and corners, Colron were taking the quick throw ins which they had been working on in training and they were working well as the KH team weren’t ready!
Zak M was now on upfront and with Charlie and Henry in midfield, Zac had a few chances on goal that went just wide or the keeper saved, he carried on where he left off last week!

The KH keeper had made some great saves during the game and had kept them in it!

The ball was passed through and Charlie made a run and slotted it into the back of the net celebrating as only he does for his hattrick goal.

The game was coming to close, the parents are thinking we have this and won nicely, surely another team can’t get a last minute goal, the ball went through the middle, Colron were defending for their lives and tackles going in but they got the shot away and in it went, they got one back with a few minutes still to play… please no not a repeat performance of the last few league games!

But Colron stuck it out and carried on making some promising attacks only for the keeper to make some great saves.

The final whistle blew and Colron had it, great team performance with the gaffer mixing it up a bit this week!
