Game Summary

The team arrived in their new tracksuits and all looked very smart, the manager handed poppies out for the shirts and they held their first ever footballing minutes silence.

First Half

Today’s game was set to be a tough battle against a team who haven’t lost in the league but Colron Yellows were ready for it, the team took to the pitch, Bromford took kick off and away we went! Bromford passed the ball around nicely but they couldn’t find a way past Reuben or Parker who both defended solidly at the back.

Charlie and Henry were passing the ball nicely through the middle and having a few chances that a very good Bromford keeper was saving.

Bromford started to attack, Reuben made a strong tackle in the middle and dribbled his way through the pitch and opposition players, he had a shot which the keeper saved on to the post, the ball bounced across the goal line with Sniffer Chalmers smacking the ball in to make sure it counted. Colron were ahead!

Minutes later Henry pounced on a clearance from the Bromford defender in the middle of the pitch, controlled the ball well, he had a little a look to see the keeper was to one side of the goal and took a shot, what a shot & a lovely taken goal! Colron were leading comfortably and the gaffer made his first changes, Tommy and Zaine were on with Tommy going upfront & Zaine in midfield.

Bromford weren’t down and out yet and came back at Colron to get a goal. Joe had no chance of saving it and after making several great saves with the sun in his eyes this one couldn’t be saved!

A few changes were made with Zac and Mason now coming on. Mason was strong and made some great tackles at the back, whilst Zac was making some great runs upfront. Tommy had dropped into midfield with a through ball from the back he ran with the ball towards goal keeping the opposition at bay and had a shot that hit the back of the net – you beauty!

Half time and after an end to end game Colron were on top!

Second Half

Bromford started the 2nd half quickly and got an early goal. Game on! Millie was on upfront making some great tackles and holding the ball up well. This game was very end to end and turning into a great game of football with Colron gelling together and passing the ball nicely to one another! Bromford managed to pull it back to a draw. Zaine was in the middle making some great tackles and never giving up!

Zac made a lovely mazey run, skipping through the Bromford players, he took his shot and it skimmed the post just going wide!

This game was still for the taking – Reuben had the ball and made a lovely run up the wing crossing it into the path of Charlie who controlled the ball made a lovely run towards goal and took a shot… in the back of the net!

Five minutes left. Joe “the Cat” F was making some great saves down the other end keeping us in the game! Parker was strong at the back chasing every ball and getting the ball away, he wasn’t letting them get an equaliser now!

The ref blew the full time whistle, get in….a great performance from a very promising Colron Team. 3 wins on the trot now for this under 7s team and after today’s performance the manager was very happy with how they are coming together!

Player of the Match: Tommy. A great strong performance today, he made some great tackles, held the ball up for some lovely passes and scored a great goal! Well deserved Tommy.

Words from the manager

Probably our best performance of the season today, passing and creating opportunities on goal freely whilst defensively solid.

Taking the previous weeks’ lessons learnt into games each week, getting better and better and growing in confidence. Well done each and every player, enjoy the well earnt rest next Sunday!
