Consecutive wins for 5NW

Following a stunning win at Handsworth last week Walmley 5NW played at home against another strong team Four Oak Saints 4ths. Yohan won the toss and decided to bat first with some rain forecast later on.

Walmley had a terrible start with 3 wickets falling with score of just 7 runs on the board. It then got bad to worse with losing further 2 wickets leaving Walmley 5 down for just 38 runs. Opposition was all over our batting line up with growing confidence of bowling us out for a low score.

Yohan was joined by Faye played patiently and started stealing singles and put up a recovery partnership of 52 when Faye fell for a well made 11. Oliver joined Yohan to build another well needed partnership of 35 runs. Yohan was runout with a direct hit for 61 trying to steal another quick single with Walmley having 125 on the board. Oliver along with Vraj (15) put up another partnership of 25. Oliver then lead the scoring with a well made 35 and Walmley ended up with a strong score of 174. A strong recovery to the innings where we were able to frustrate Four Oaks resulting a number of miss fields.

Darryl (5 overs 1 maiden 12 runs) and Oliver (5 overs, 1 maiden, 1 wicket for 16 runs) opened bowling for Walmley with tight lines giving nothing away. First and second bowling changes did the trick for Walmley with Viren taking 3 wickets for 30 in 7 overs and Eleanor with a magnificent spell of 7 overs 2 maidens 5 wickets for 7 runs. Four Oaks eventually bowled out for 88 with Henry taking last wicket for Walmley.

Another strong performance from a very young side to beat strong oppositions 2 weeks in a row. Strong effort in the field with lots of energy. Let’s keep up this spirit and look forward to a repeat fixture at Four Oaks.
