Cricket: U10s vs Whittington U11s Knockout cup

On Tuesday 11th May, our Under 10s travelled to Whittington to play the first round of the cup (hard ball pairs cricket). Everyone was hoping that the weather held up, and it did. The ground had to be moved to the slippery astro turf wicket, but all the boys cared about was playing cricket!

Bryan lost the toss for Walmley, and was surprisingly put into bat first. Walmley batted sensibly and the running between the wickets was top class, just what we needed. Every player contributed, with Danny Foster top scoring with 14, with contributions from Bryan and Ariyan both with 13 runs each, Dylan with 11 runs.

Walmley ended the innings with 262.

Walmley’s bowling was even better, the boys were buzzing around in the field, backing up, not a single over throw. A fantastic run out by Danny Foster set the tone. Jibril with only his second game behind the stumps did a fantastic job. Ariyan taking 4 wickets, Reuben, Freddie and Daniel all with 2 wickets each.

Whittington ended with 163.

A great moral boosting victory which was much needed before going into the next round against the winner of Lichfield v Rolleston this Friday.
