A slightly drizzly evening saw the Saturday 2nds and Thimblemill 1sts met at Eldon Drive for the Warwickshire County Cricket League T20 Band B Cup match.
Walmley won the toss and put Thimblemill in. Lewis Hoffman (3-0-11-1) and Jay Martin (3-0-18-0) opened the bowling with the first breakthrough coming in the 3rd over when Hoffman bowled the opener.
Perry Henderson and 4th team captain Mo Salman took over the attack next, Salman taking two wickets in two balls in his first over, and Henderson (4-0-29-1) picking up one the over after leaving Thimblemill on 46-4 off 9 overs. The fifth wicket partnership had doubled the score by the end of the 14th over when Mo Salman returned to the attack and got the breakthrough. This was followed by two wickets by Louis Chaudy (3-0-25-2) in the next over. Salman started his next over with a dot, then bowled the number 9, and the number 10. Yet again this innings Salman has taken two wickets in two balls! The next ball, Salman bowls, the batsman misses and the bails are off. It’s a hat-trick to finish the Thimblemill innings on 105 off 16.4 overs! Salman’s 6 wickets came at a cost of just 6 runs off 3.4 overs.
Walmley looked in control for the whole innings with Bristow (27), Gower (18), Kaash Patel (17*) and Mo Salman (19*) being the main contributors to the total. The only Thimblemill bowler to give the Walmley batmen any trouble was Jeyaprathees Saundraraj who took 4 for 20 off his four overs.
With the total reached in 14.3 overs, Walmley are through to the next round of the cup.
