Game Summary
First Half
Firstly, a warm welcome to Kaylan from team Walmley Colron. Today’s game was always going to be difficult, Ryan unable to play due to an injury he picked up in the last game and four other players carrying injuries. This forced the Walmley Colron management to change the team formation putting players out of position, Walmley Colron were also playing into the wind during the first half. Shelfield used this to their advantage by continually floating high balls into the tall Shelfield forwards and seven minutes into the game, Shelfield score the first goal of the game. This is followed by another goal nine minutes later. Walmley Colron are battling hard but cannot prevent a further two goals going into the Walmley Colron net. The match now 4-0 to the home side when Walmley Colron start to rally and create a chance for Owen who scores, right on the stroke of half time. Controversially the ref blows for offside but after a debate with the linesman the goal is allowed.
Second Half
Walmley Colron start the second half with a little more passion but it is Shelfield that score fourteen minutes into the half followed by another six minutes later. A minute later Walmley Colron are still battling and float a teasing ball into the Shelfield box that is fumbled by the goalie, Kaylan quickly takes advantage and flips the ball over the goalkeeper into the net, again the goal is disallowed by the ref. Three minutes later Shelfield score the final goal of the game, 7-1 to the home side. It was a difficult away game against a good Shelfield team there was some debatable refereeing decisions, a depleted Walmley Colron squad and several players on the day carrying injuries. We look forward to the return match with a full fit Walmley Colron squad.
Congratulations to Ethan (parents’ player) and Jordan (man of the match) well played boys!
