4ths vs Bridge Trust OB 2nds
The 4ths were back at Court Lane in the sunshine looking at a lovely, hard wicket and wanting to bat. Obviously didn’t win the toss and so we fielded instead.
Unlike previous weeks, there was no early breakthrough from the opening bowlers but changes at both ends brought about some wickets. Ryan Delport (4-22) starred with the ball and every catch was taken in the field with no drops. Bridge Trust finished on 176-7 after their 40 with Ridouan Asselman and Alex Carey taking a wicket apiece and George Wyatt collecting a run out.
The reply started strongly as usual with our regular openers Amaan Nasar (16) and Luke Gillam (48) punishing the bad balls and getting the run rate up straight away. Amaan was undone by probably the only ball that kept low which brought Farhan Choudary (55) to the crease and saw himself and Luke Marshall put on a fantastic partnership which put us in the driving seat to chase down our target. First 50 in the 4ths this season and very nearly two as Luke fell just 2 runs short. Wickets fell very quickly once those two were out but a very impressive 21 not out from Rajveer Chauhan helped push the run rate back up as wickets kept falling at the other end and Ryan Delport sealed the winning run on the second to last ball. Great run chase and first win of the season.
