Walmley won the toss and elected to bowl first on a very green wicket. Armani (2 for 24)and Perry (4 for 28) got off to a cracking start with the ball by sending back almost all of their top order batsman.
The opposition then formed a stable partnership with one of their batsman hitting 84 which helped them put some runs on the board before Tom Cleaver broke the partnership.
The remaining 3 wickets were then quickly taken which ended their innings on 185 all out from just 41 overs.
Unfortunately, 3 of our top order batsman were dismissed early as well. However, a strong partnership between James Bristow (74) and Mo Salman (60) saw us knock off the runs in 39 overs with 7 wickets to spare. A very well planned out innings from James Bristow that set the foundation for our successful run chase, great performance from him.
Having overheard the opposition at the start of the game underestimate our side due to their size and age, I am very proud of the team and how they performed to show the opposition exactly what this team and the youth at Walmley are capable on in this sport. Great performance from each member of the team, and hopefully the first of many league wins!
