Flurry of Goals for Colron U8s

It was the first time back for the U8 team for a while due to the recent weather, so we were hoping that the team could get into the game quickly.

First Half

After a bit of a slow start the team (George, Daniel, Josh, Samuel, Owain & Olly) started to pressure Glades with some good passing and movement and were rewarded with an early goal from Owain to take the lead.
We had a number of missed chances and then unfortunately the opposition equalised and then took the lead themselves going into halftime two down down.

Second Half

The second half saw a change in formation with Daniel moving into goal allowing George the chance to play outfield.
A flurry of goals from both teams in the second half, saw Colron catching up but failing to capitalise on the momentum and eventually after a lot of pressure from Colron saw us pull back with the game eventually finishing equal, with goals from Owain and Olly.

Summary

In fairness Colron could have won with a number of missed opportunities in front of goal including a couple of goalmouth scrambles which saw us narrowly miss scoring.

The team were obviously a bit rusty due to lack of game time.

A strong performance by all the team considering the lack of game time but and good to see them buzzing after the game. There were some promising sequences of play during the game, there are some things to work on in training such as positioning as we often found ourselves bunching and following the ball.

Player of the Match

Man of match was Daniel due to his strong performance in the 1st half and taking up the challenge to go in goal in the 2nd half.

Great game and onto the cup games next week
