Great Performances by Younger Girls Team

Match Date: Monday 13th May 2019
Opposition: Dunstall
League: Burton & District Youth Cricket League – Under 11 Division 1
Type: Hardball pairs
Location: Away
Report: Nick Snowdon.

The Girls played in the Burton League tonight. Our usual team has four or five U13 county girls as allowed by the league, but today we had four beginners in the team. We lost, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

7 year old Liv Oakley, playing her first hardball game bowled 12 balls. No wides. No no-balls. Taking 1 wicket for 1 run.

Tess Diamond (yr5) also playing her first hardball game. 8 good dot balls and batting confidently.

Olivia Ts bowling is really coming on with 9 dots – and a brilliant stop in the field saving a certain 4.

Mariam followed her star player 2-wicket performance with a first-ball wicket. 1 for 5 runs. And batting nicely including a lovely 4.

Chloe bowled quickly with 2 wickets for 6 runs. And top net-scored with 8 scoring shots in 14 balls.

Libby bowled her first competitive overs of leg spin and had Mr Carey purring with a ripper to take a wicket 3rd ball. And a lovely maiden to follow.

Ellie hit two beautiful 4s and ran well, returning only 2 dots.

Amy truly excelled as Captain – really driving the team with great enthusiasm and communication. She also took 3 wickets (3/20) with speedy spin.

So many positives tonight. I’m really proud of everyone.
