Once again the weather prevented the mighty Colron from playing at Eldon Drive so it was back to Streetly where we faced the tough opposition of Arden Forest.
The team turned up looking very professional in their new tracksuits and coats. The posts were up, the pitch was marked out and the game kicked off.
Within minutes Colron had them on the back foot and the ball went out for a corner. Charlie whipped a cross in and the ball bounced off an Arden player into the net. Great start!
At this point everyone thought it was going to be a stroll and Colron took their foot off the gas. Arden equalised with a great strike from the edge of the box. We then knew we were in for a game.
Henry and Zaine kept probing the Arden defence with the cool Reuben keeping the Arden attack at bay. Suddenly Colron stopped playing with their normal intensity and Arden picked up their game. An Arden goal was soon followed by another 3. Everyone couldn’t believe what happened and Arden went into halftime with a comfortable lead.
The Colron manager was hopping mad!
The second half kicked off and after a few words from the gaffer Colron were back at the races!
Millie was on up front and could have had a hattrick but I’m sure her goal will come one day.
Joe came out of the sticks with Zac putting the gloves on, both had a cracking second half. Zaine was put into defensive duties with an outstanding performance which earned him player of the match, picked by Tommy’s dad, well done mate!
The attacks kept coming from Colron and after a few close efforts Henry broke through the Arden defence and scored a beauty! Arden soon realised they were in for a game and after a few ‘strong’ tackles from the Arden midfield Charlie skipped past the Arden defence and scored! Another good goal.
Mason came on up front and was causing many problems and Tommy was working hard in midfield after a late night (blame the parents)!
With a couple of minutes left Reuben made a great run through with the ball glued to his feet and slotted it into the bottom corner. Joe nearly made it a draw with the last chance of the game but it wasn’t to be today! A great second half performance by all.
Parker was missed at the back today but I’m sure he will be back with a bang next week.
Next week is another big challenge against Glades. See you all next week!
