Match Date: Saturday 18th May
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League Premier Division
Location: The Wake Green Road Ground
Report: Michael Waugh, captain
The first XI were playing away at Attock this week. We lost the toss and were asked to bowl with the outfield being damp this could’ve been a tricky task. But with a perfect start Fahim Jan took a wicket with just the second ball of the day and the score’s 0-1. Attock were batting aggressively and so this meant although we were bowling well they were still scoring boundaries by taking risks. However good bowling from the openers mean that Attock were 48-3 after the opening spells. Our first and second change bowlers, Mo Sheikh (11-1-30-1) and Jamie Hall (7-0-19-1) respectively, both bowled brilliant tight spells and put Attock under a lot of pressure. Then in the death overs Sammy Bhatti took 2 wickets and Recordo Gordon returned and took 2 wickets in 2 balls to end the Attock innings and bowl them out for 168. A great bowling effort on what looked like a good batting surface.
In reply the openers Dan Bromley (39) and Mo Sheikh (40) got us off to a brilliant start with a run rate of around 6 an over and an opening stand of 94. Unfortunately at this point both openers went in quick succession but their work had broken the back of the total and the other 4 batsmen used all chipped in to see us home 6 down and in 33.2 overs and a comfortable win with 24 points gained!
On to next week against Standard at home.
