Walmley travelled to play their away fixture against top-of-the-table Attock CC. Having loss the toss, the opposition batted first on a wettish pitch, their top order batting with great confidence and attackingly. (Anaus Saleem) 61, (Saad Aman) 30 and (Qaiser Javed) 51* were the main contribution, Walmley bowlers responded with great determination to restrict them for 240 in 50 overs, with Callum Mulholland taking 5 wickets for 64 in his 12 overs, Shailan Srikanthan 2 for 31 in his 10 and Duncan Waugh 2 for 39 in 8 overs.
Walmley started their innings, keeping in mind that the target is in their reach, but requires 2 good partnerships, but lost early wickets in quick intervals, only Atif Khalil played with some authority and managed to score 42 valuable runs.
The middle order collapse left no doubt that the target was way ahead of the Walmley reach, but at the end Warwickshire U14 left armed spinner Shailan Srikanthan made a formidable 26, his application and concentration with Duncan Waugh at the other end managed to achieve a few batting points.
In the end Walmley were bowled out for 127. Attock’s main destroyer was Umair Zaman who took 7 wickets for 19 runs, showing some great seam bowling.
A hard game against the top-of-the-table side, lots of positives but we learn and move onto our next game and apply better in batting to overcome the run chase better.
Good positives taken from this fixture.
