Match Date: Saturday 27th April
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League
Report: Tariq Mohammed
Captain: Atif Khalil
We travelled on a very cold and windy day to Corley, having rain forecast throughout the day, losing the toss and batting first on a very low first innings total, with main contribution from Ethan Guinavan who batted really well with good control and shot selection for 33, John Pigott 19, Sinel Gunaratne 17, Amaan Nasar 14 and Yusuf Khalil 12. Posted 158 for 8 wkts in 50 overs.
Corley started their innings with control and care as we bowled line and length. With the first 12 overs opposition were 18 for 3, with Lewis Hoffman once again taking the responsibility of early inroads with Rayyan Mohammed opening the bowling.
Next Callum Mulholland came for the spell of the day, by no doubt, with great confidence and control with some seam bowling and taking vital figures for 4 for 20 in his 12 overs.
Walmley with such a young side kept them in check with some great application in the field, as wickets coming through regular intervals we kept that pressure on the opposition but they finished with two vital partnerships with Richard Davenport 49, Rob Thatcher 23 and Ross Woollacott making 21.
Shailan Srikanthan 2 for 20, Lewis Hoffman 2 for 32, Rayyan Mohammed 1 for 23 and Alex Carey 1 for 44 took Walmley across the line, winning the game by just 4 runs.
Corley finished with 154 all out, finishing a game with Walmley accumulating 24 points.
Great win with six under 16 boys. Goes to show their application and ability. The team was Lead by Atif Khalil with some technical skills and help from the senior players.
Walmley 24 points. Well played the boys!
