Match Date: Saturday 20th April
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League
Location: Old Edwardians
Report: Nathan Hill, captain Saturday 2nds
In the first league game of the season Walmley won the toss and elected to field first. The track was damp and green, a wicket you would have thought would be seamer friendly. However this proved not to be the case with more assistance in the wicket for the spinners. A good opening spell from Jacob Clarke was backed up by Callum Herron (8-29-1) and Kiefer Woods (11-43-3). Dinuk de Silva however had the stand out figures (11.2-67-6) for the day, bowling with control and was a constant threat throughout his whole spell. Old Edwardians bowled out for 212 with 9 overs to spare. Walmley had 10 overs to bat before tea. Losing Carl Griffin early Tom Pyke and Callum Herron got to work putting on a 50 partnership before tea. After tea Tom Pyke was dismissed but Dan Bromley (55) and Callum Herron (65) continued the momentum putting on 92. A mini collapse with Herron and Bromley getting out within an over of each other followed by Woods. However it was left to Ian Schmid (23 from 52) and Bilal Hussain (21 Not Out) to get Walmley over the line in the 46th over. Next up for the 2nd XI is Sheldon Marlborough at home.
