Match Date: Saturday 4th May
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 6
Location: Court Lane
Report: Tariq Mohammed, captain
We played a home fixture to Massey Ferguson at Court Lane. The opposition conceded the toss as they only had only 4 player turning up before the cut off time of the start of play.
Lewis Hoffman and Rayyan Mohammed made early inroads as the opposition were in trouble in the innings, Massey Ferguson were 40 for 4 in their first 18 overs and then they had a decent partnership of 65 runs between Gurjit Minhas 51 and Kunal Sharma 28*.
Walmley bowlers bowled really good line and length with nothing to offer to the batsman, Duncan Waugh 3 for 15 was a star bowler by no doubt, Lewis Hoffman, Rayyan Mohammed, Alex Carey and Scott Pepper chipped in with 1 wkt each. Massey Ferguson scored 136 in 50 overs.
Our opening batsmen Atif Khalil and John Pigott made a great start as we were chasing a small total on a difficult and wet wicket, Atif displayed some really good shot selection making 31, then we had an early collapse in the middle of the innings with John Pigott making 13, Amaan Nasar 10 and Kaash Patel 15, we had the total at 90 for the loss of 6 wickets.
Rayyan Mohammed batting at number 8, accompanied by his father Tariq Mohammed, played responsibly and kept his wicket intact with taking singles and rotating the strike very well, supporting Tariq Mohammed 18* at the other end to cross the line with 13 overs to spare. Rayyan made 14*, with the innings ending on 137 for 6 in 37 overs.
Great Win and great display of team contribution from everyone.
We are 3rd joint in the league, lot of cricket left as we meet another home fixture next Saturday.
Walmley 20 points.
Well done everyone!
