Match Date: Saturday 25th May
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 6
Location: Court Lane
Report: Tariq Mohammed, captain
Having won the Toss, Walmley elected to field first. We bowled good areas to start with and produced wickets at regular intervals. Some really good ground fielding produced a run out with the opposition 40 for 1 in their first 12 overs. Lewis Hoffman and Callum Mulholland bowled really tight lines.
Rayyan Mohammed and Shailan Srikanthan bowled the first change respectively, getting 3 middle order wickets between them as we were in the solid position having them 85 for 4 in 23 overs.
Shailan Srikanthan 3 for 17 in his 12 overs, Lewis Hoffman finished with 3 for 40 in his 10 overs, Tariq Mohammad 2 for 12 and Rayyan Mohammed 1 for 15 were the wicket takers.
Restricting Pickwick to 186 in 50 overs with M. Usman making 41 runs with 4 boundaries.
We started our chase with some great positive batting from both Atif Khalil and John Pigott taking the score to 42 in first 8 overs. The top order showed some promise but noone came up with the big innings, John Pigott (29), Tariq Mohammed (23). Max Southgate went in at 6 and batted sensibly with promise of great determination making a valuable (23).
The opposition bowled tight lines so the runs were hard to come by. Shailan Srikanthan and Rayyan Mohammed, batting at 9 and 10 respectively, made sure to take the run chase to the wire. They scored 36 in 5.2 overs to secure a brilliant win for Walmley.
Shailan Srikanthan (18*) and Rayyan Mohammed (13*), the maturity and courage they showed was great see. We secured a 20 points and a fantastic win which put us right in the middle of the table.
Well played each and every one with great mindset to do well. Next week it’s going to be an away fixture against Ambleside.
