Match Date: Sunday 5th May
Type: Arden Sunday Cricket League
Location: Court Lane
Report: Jon Newis, captain
Our Sunday side took on a Nuneaton team down at Court Lane, winning the toss and choosing to bat, Paddy Woods and Dinuk de Silva opened the batting scoring 11 and 10 respectively. Ram in next hitting a good 12 before getting trapped LBW. Rob Hutchings got off to a quick start 19 before getting caught at deep square. In stepped Michael Waugh who scored an unbeaten 118 with some large 6s to boot, and with Jono (90) scoring over a 200 partnership and taking the Walmley total to 273. This always seemed to be a good score on a low track and so it proved with a good opening spell from Hiru Miah and Rob Ellis taking 2 wickets each and holding the opposition’s charge back. A very good run out from Hutchings of their only batter to make it into the 20s meant their chances of making the score was bleak. Kiefer Woods and Duncan Waugh came on to finish the job with Kiefer taking 2 and Duncan 3 wickets. Great game! And a very convincing win bowling Nuneaton out for 89!
