Match Date: 1st June 2019
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 6
Report: Tariq Mohammed, captain
Travelled to an away fixture to play against Ambleside Cricket Club on a good and dry day. Having lost the toss, the opposition opted to bat first. Lewis Hoffman and Callum Mulholland bowled a brilliant opening spell with opposition having 43 for 3 in their first 10 overs. We knew we had to keep putting pressure on, giving them nothing to get runs off. Some really responsible bowling display from all the bowlers. Duncan Waugh came on as first change and grabbed 2 wickets in his first over. They were then 50 for 5 in 13 overs, when Tariq Mohammed took one end with spin and got a few wickets in quick succession having them 76 for 7 in 23 overs. With most of their recognised batsman were back in the pavilion and the lower order were batting, Duncan Waugh bowled tight lines and finishing his spell with a five wicket haul.
Ambleside finished their innings all out on 98 in 31.4 overs. Duncan Waugh taking a brilliant 5 for 26, Callum Mulholland 2 for 24, Tariq Mohammed 2 for 16 and Lewis Hoffman 1 for 25.
Having bowled them out in a pretty quick turnaround, we had 15 overs to bat before the tea interval.
At tea we were 56 for 2 with two young guns out there batting with great confidence and calculation with Sinel Gunaratne and Kaash Patel making sure to get the runs by giving them no sniff at any point. After tea, we chased down the target and won the match in 28th overs. Kaash Patel made a valuable 55* standing firm and crossing the line to a great outstanding victory for Walmley.
We claimed 20 points at this outing taking 3rd position in the league table.
Great display of application from everyone of us to be at our best against their 1st team.
Next week we have a home fixture against Sheldon Marlborough.
