Not an Easy Chase for Bridge Trust

Saturday 1st August

The 3s took a trip to Bridge Trust on Saturday and after winning the toss, chose to bat. A decent start from the top order, especially top scorer Arman Dubb (34), saw us reach 77-3 at drinks. Another middle order collapse after a short rain delay allowed Bridge Trust to gain momentum, but composed and mature knocks from Devin Fernando and Sam Lumb saw us reach a total of 152 all out off our 42 overs.

Bridge Trust came out with the mindset that this would be an easy chase given the youthful look of our side, but it was anything but! Excellent spells from Sam Lumb (1-19) and Amarni Anwar (3-12), along with some great catches from Dubb and Fernando, had them 92-5 at drinks. An excellent 3rd team debut for Amarni was rounded off with a brilliant run out of their best bat and with them now 120-7, there was real hope of an upset against a side who had not lost this season. Unfortunately, their batsman saw off some good spin bowling from Pepper and Fernando to reach the target with 3 wickets in hand.

A really positive performance from a very young side that’s showing improvement week in week out!
