The first XI took on Handsworth away this Saturday, 1st June. Winning the toss Walmley chose to bowl first. Handsworth got off to a bit of a flyer by trying to free their arms and got to 35 for the first wicket. This is where Fahim Jan turned the game on its head with a devastating period of 6 wickets in 13 balls reducing Handsworth to 42-6. From here Handsworth had a little bit of recovery with a couple of batsmen making it into the high teens, early 20s meaning they got up to a score of 99 all out in 33.4 overs. Fahim doing all the damage early and the 4 other bowlers with a wicket each. Special mention to Mo Sheikh who finished with figures 10-7-4-1?
In reply Walmley started strongly and never looked like losing a wicket with the openers Dan Bromley (49*) and Sammy Bhatti (51*) doing a brilliant job and seeing us home in just 15.1 overs. A comprehensive win for the 1st XI with some big games coming up.
