Match report by Kiefer Woods
In todays game we looked to get back to our winning ways but that wasn’t going to happen due to a rain delay. Due to the weather we were only able to play 35 overs. We bowled first, Lewis Hoffman and Callum Mulholland got us off to a good start only conceding a few runs of their first couple of overs. Both Callum and Lewis restricted the runs with tight bowling. We managed to quickly take some wickets which was beneficial to the team. One wicket in particular was interesting: there was dropped catch and then a run out to follow off what seemed to be a mix up between the opposition batsmen. After a couple more overs on came Perry who had astounding figures of 2 overs 1 for 42 losing a few cricket balls in the process. After our bowling innings they posted a beatable 235 runs.
Next was the batting part. We got off to a good start with our opening batters putting on 120 runs in the first 17 overs. We then unfortunately lost a few quick wickets with our middle order putting on 80 or so runs. To finish off James Bristow put in a good cameo of 20 runs to help reach the 200 run mark and secure another point but that wasn’t enough to win us the game.
We put this game behind us and focus on next week where we play Sheldon Marlborough away to hopefully keep us on track and in the top 2.
