Saturday 5NW Wins against Coleshill 2nds

Walmley travelled to Coleshill on a rainy weekend with all other Saturday games abandoned we were so keen to get a game. Coleshill have done a tremendous job with the pitch which ensured we had a game. Both captains agreed that it was only going to be a 20 over game with the weather forecast for the remainder of the day.

Yohan won the toss and decided to bat first due to continuous drizzle which would make the pitch worse as the game progress. Mo and Greg opened batting for Walmley. Mo fell for 7 when the score was 9 and Rhys joined Greg who put a lovely partnership of 55 at a good run rate. Rhys fell for 19 off 24 balls. Coleshill then managed to get through some overs with tight spells to reduce run rate and as a result Walmley lost 2 further wickets (Krish 7 and Ryan 5) with score on 94 for 4 after 17 overs. Yohan joined Greg made an unbeaten partnership of 33 off last 3 overs with Yohan scoring 17 off 10 and Greg Rushton with a magnificent half century (52* off 57 balls). Walmley posted 127 for 4 in their allocated overs.

Coleshill started strong with 67 for none after 11 overs. Yohan took their first wicket with 68 on the board and Coleshill started to tumble with losing wickets regularly. They went from 67 for none to 93 for 7 with some tight bowling from Walmley.

Yohan took 3 wickets for 16 in 4 overs, Farhan with a lovely spell taking 2 wickets for 8 runs in 3 overs with 2 maidens. Darryl and Ryan taking a wicket each for 21 and 16 in their 4 overs respectively. Excellent fielding from everyone with Mo Salman and Krish with some fantastic catching.

5NW’s first league win this season and hopefully many more to come!
