Walmley 4ths vs Ward End Unity 2nds
Match Date: Saturday 13th July 2019
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 11 West
Location: Ward End Unity
Report: Mo Salman, captain

Walmley 4ths played away to Ward End Unity 2nds. After losing the toss, we were put into bat and got off to a disappointing start with both our openers getting out for ducks. However our number 3, David Clough, changed things around for us with yet another century (102) this season which was well assisted by Arman Dubb (28) and Farhan Choudhry (43). After been 0 for 2 we found ourselves on 200 in the 40th over but it just got even better as the last 5 overs went for 60 runs thanks to Harry Wyatt, Ben Pyke, Masud Ahmed, Alex Carey and Sam Lumb who also hit a 6 off the last ball of the innings! A superb recovery by the team.

We then went out to field and defend our total and got off to a great start with myself and Sam Lumb (1 for 44) applying some pressure on the opening batsmen. On came Umair Choudhry and Masud Ahmed who took a wicket a piece before a brilliant 5 wicket haul from Alex Carey (5 for 27 off 10 overs) thanks to some incredible fielding from everyone in the team! Some incredible catches taken by Ben Pyke, Jack Patel, Masud Ahmed, Umair and Farhan Choudhry and Harry Wyatt. With the help from these catches and an incredible run out by Masud Ahmed and Ben Pyke we had them 9 down and still plenty of runs left to get to our total.

Alex and Sam bowled brilliantly at the death and with just 1 over left to get that last wicket, I brought myself on and with the very first ball of the last over, we got the wicket, caught at second slip by Umair Choudhry giving us the full 24 points and putting us firmly in 3rd place in the league.

An absolutely incredible performance from the lads yet again. Superb batting, bowling and fielding display shown from all individuals.
