Match Date: 22nd June 2019
Type: Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 6
Location: Aston Manor
Report: Tariq Mohammed
We travelled to Aston Manor after a few washed out games.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl on a slightly damp but even wicket, we got a run out in our first over. Aston Manor started to build a partnership at times but we kept them in check by bowling good areas.
Their main scorers were A. Ali who played a brilliant innings of 97, S. Khan 47 and M. D. Islam 31 to took the total to 244. We didn’t bowl well at the end and a few catches were dropped leaving the opposition able to capitalise on those missed opportunities.
The main best bowlers of the innings were:
Perry Henderson 3 for 40 in 9 overs,
Ryan Van Wyk 2 for 60 in 10 overs,
Tariq Mohammed 1 for 33 in 10 overs,
Rayyan Mohammed 1 for 39 in 10 overs.
We needed 4.9 runs per over at the start of the chase. At the first wicket we were 49 in 15th over, after that 2 quick wickets really kept us on the back foot by not creating any hope, but Ethan Guinavan played a brilliant calculated innings of 52 batting at 5.
He kept the momentum of an innings alive but losing wickets at the other end made difficult for us to chase the game.
Their bowlers bowled hardly any extras and bowled tight lines.
A. Ali claiming great figures with the ball grabbing 4 wickets for 24 runs in his 7 overs. H. Khan bowled really well with 2 for 29 in his 10 overs.
We ended up with 166 all out and losing a game to a better and well equipped opposition.
Mainly a good learning opportunity for the youngsters but a hard game to swallow against the full adult side.
Still we are in hope of bouncing back next week with some strong players back in the side for us to show a better and positive result against Wolvey 1st at Court Lane.
