Walmley U15Bs lose first game as Tutbury win

After setting a stiff target of 152, Tutbury CC kept Walmley down to 96, winning by 55 runs.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Lysander Schubert-Hobbs made a quickfire 31 off 17 with 2 fours and 3 sixes before being caught and bowled by Adi Muthukumar. Deeyan Patel snapped up the other opener courtesy a wonderful catch by Ben Carruthers, catching a high ball running back. County batsman Yousuf Akhtar smashed 2 sixes into the hedges (prompt ball searching!) before Josh Chagar had him caught. Eleanor Philips dismissed Oliver Stretch whilst at the other end, captain Evan Dhanda was superb, hitting 6 fours and 1 six before retiring on 40. There were a couple of run-outs, followed by Amelia Freeman and Krishna Kulkarni picking up wickets, Tutbury closing on 151 all out.

In reply, Walmley lost captain Harry Wyatt early because of a superb catch at point by Saif Ashfaq. Tom Hanlon continued his form with a useful 27 before being caught and bowled by a very good catch by Devin Fernando. Josh Chagar swung hard, hammering 2 sixes on the leg side off Ayaan Ashfaq before being run out. Krishna Kulkarni made 18* as Walmley finished on 96-7, Tutbury triumphing by 55 runs.
