On a hot early September evening Walmley U13 Girls took on Four Oaks Saints in the WCB Girls U13 Cup final.
Walmley lost the toss and were put in to bat.
Simran and Rebecca opened the batting, putting on a fantastic 96 for the opening partnership, with Simran retiring on 52 not out, before some big hitting from Liv O (24 off 13) helped the team to 141/2 off 16 overs.
Following a short break to hydrate and cool down, the girls took to the field with great energy, intent and team spirit. Aggressive quick bowling from Liv O and Lily and some good catches from captain Liv T and Simran reduced Four Oaks to 9-3 after 3 overs. Lily finishing on 2/3 and Liv 1/6 after the first 4 overs. This gave us all chance to relax a little and with contributions from the entire squad, including our younger members, Daisy, Penny and Zaynah M, and a wicket each from Poppy and Sumayah before Rebecca chipped in with 2/2 at the end. Victory was finally sealed with a run out off the bowling of Liv T, giving Walmley the win by 81 runs, making the girls WCB GIRLS U13 CUP WINNERS.
Congratulations Girl’s. You thoroughly deserved the win to round off a brilliant season. Well done and enjoy it!!!
